The India Cricket Team is not at all happy with the makeshift facilities in New York. The Men in Blue had their first training session and already Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma have expressed their disappointment. And now, with India playing their warm-up match at Cantiague Park, questions are now being raised about injury concerns.
India cannot afford any more injuries, given that they are slated to take on Ireland on 5th June. And with the team eager to break their ICC Trophy jinx, the team needs each and every player to be fit and fine.
“Everything is makeshift – from pitches to other facilities. Safe to say everything is very average in nature. The team has raised their concerns,” a source told News18 Cricket Next.
Injury concerns surmount for India
India are not at all happy with the makeshift conditions. India have Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav and Rishabh Pant who are returning to the National Team colours after injury concerns. And with mediocre facilities and training conditions, the risk for players getting an injury increases manifold.
And that’s not all. India are slated to play 4 ICC T20 World Cup matches in the USA, including their warmup match against Bangladesh. Three of these games will be held in New York. Meaning, India will have to use these facilities at Cantiague Park. Only the last game against Canada will be held at Lauderhill in Florida.
With 1 warm-up game and remaining practice sessions set to be held, the injury concerns are paramount. And rightly so, Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma will surely be worried. If any player gets a freak injury, it can very well destabilise the team.
