Former Australian opener and former team mentor Matthew Hayden has claimed that he has his trust on the Pakistan Cricket Team. Ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup, Hayden labelled the Men in Green as the Dark Horse of the tournament. Hayden claimed that the team has strength and look like a strong side.
Pakistan recently announced their 15-member squad for the ICC T20 World Cup. The Men in Green are currently in England playing a 4-match T20I series against England. After their preparation, they are going to fly off to USA for the mega ICC tournament.
Dark Horse of T20 World Cup
“Pakistan are always the dark horse when it comes to a World Cup. Their fast bowling stocks are amazing with Shaheen Shah Afridi & Naseem Shah, who wasn’t available for selection in the last World Cup. That’s a big comeback. With Mohammad Amir & Haris Rauf, they form a pretty strong pace attack,” Matthew Hayden said.
“The big three that is Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan & Fakhar Zaman. Their biggest chink is always going to be their fielding. Hopefully, it won’t diminish their performances this year. They’re a solid team and certainly a team to watch out for in the T20 World Cup 2024,” Hayden concluded.
Pakistan to fight for T20 World Cup
The Men in Green might not be the team that are tipped to be the favourites. But the team can’t be thrown away to dust. The Pakistan Cricket Team boasts of having a strong line-up. Along with the likes of Babar Azam, they also have the likes of power hitters like Mohammad Rizwan and Fakhar Zaman.
It remains to be seen how the team fairs in the ICC tournament. Pakistan begins their campaign as they take on USA on 6th June. Following which it will be the mega encounter against India.
