So after the IPL 2024 final, all the focus shifts to the T20 World Cup in USA and the West Indies. The first batch of Indian players left couple of days back, including Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Rishabh Pant, while the second batch left on Monday morning. This group had the likes of Sanju Samson, Yuzvendra Chahal, Avesh Khan and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
As per a report in News18, the Indian team’s support staff also reached the USA in the first batch — including coach Rahul Dravid. But MI skipper Hardik Pandya is believed to reach New York from London, and not with the team.
Virat Kohli Takes Extended Break
Not just Pandya, but even ex-skipper Virat Kohli will join the team late for the T20 World Cup. But he would be there in time, before the warm-up match between India and Bangladesh on June 1. In fact, Kohli is expected to leave by the end of May.

“He will reach New York before the warm-up vs Bangladesh on June 1. Whether he plays or not in the warm-up will be management’s call – whether they feel there is enough gap between him landing and the warm-up fixture,” said a source.
Team India to Stay Close to Nassau Stadium
Team India will play their warm-up match and next three fixtures, including India vs Pakistan, at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium. Hence, the team would be staying close to the venue, in a five star hotel. From there on, they will progress to Florida to play vs Canada.
