Australia could only field nine players vs Namibia in T20 World Cup warm-up match, Here’s why

The T20 World Cup warm-up matches are scheduled to begin on May 27, and Australia take on Namibia on May 29.

Australia might not be the best-prepared for the T20 World Cup warm-up matches. As per a report in ESPNCricinfo, the Aussie players involved in IPL final have been given a short break, before going to the Caribbean. So now, Australia have only nine players at their disposal for the warm-up matches against Namibia and West Indies.

“It’s important to be flexible,” Marsh told cricket.com.au. “Guys have been at the IPL. They’ve been playing a lot of cricket so we’ve prioritized giving them a couple of days at home, see their family, refresh and play the long game for this tournament. We’ll get to our 15 eventually but it’s really important that we give them a break, even if it’s [just] a couple of days at home.”

Coaching Staff Likely to Fill in

That also means, due to the unviability of main players, the support staff members will have to take the field. The likes of Brad Hodge, Andrew McDonald, and George Bailey could chip in.
