The International Cricket Council (ICC) is gearing up for a new era with the launch of an all-encompassing anthem. Composed by Grammy award-winning Lorne Balfe, this piece will be the official anthem played across all ICC world events. The powerful new piece of music will debut on the grand stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, kicking off with the opening match between USA and Canada on June 1, 2024, in Dallas, Texas.

The anthem transcends formats, serving as the official ICC anthem for Test matches, One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and T20 Internationals (T20Is) as well.
Balfe, known for his acclaimed work on film scores, created the anthem at the legendary Abbey Road Recording Studios in London. The composition incorporates a unique blend of orchestral instruments, cricket equipment being used in innovative ways, and even in-game sounds.
Commenting on his creation, Balfe expressed his enthusiasm for the project. “It’s been a great experience working with the ICC and composing the new anthem,” he said. “It’s an anthem of unity and the goal was echo the spirit of every boundary crossed and wicket taken in this wonderful, timeless sport.”
Chris Tetley, the ICC Head of Events, echoed the sentiment, highlighting the importance of an auditory experience that complements the on-field intensity. “We’re excited to share this unique project with the world,” he stated. “This new sonic brand identity has been in the works for some time and the process of getting to the final product has been as intricate as the music piece itself.”
