Andy Flower, the head coach of RCB, believes that Dinesh Karthik will transition into coaching after ultimately ending his career as a professional cricket player. Interestingly, before and during the current Indian Premier League 2024, the wicketkeeper batter has been openly discussing his impending retirement on multiple occasions.
Karthik to land coaching role after retirement?
As a result, there have been many rumors that Karthik will soon announce his retirement after RCB was eliminated from the tournament on Wednesday, May 22, following a four-wicket loss to RR in the Eliminator game. Speaking about the probable conclusion of Karthik’s 20-year-old cricket career, Flower praised him for his incredible performance during the competition and listed a number of roles he could play once he retires.
“He hadn’t played a lot of cricket, leading into the tournament. What he has done for us — runs-wise, attitude-wise — has been really special. I respect him for that. He is going to be super successful in whatever he goes on to. He is a brilliant commentator already. Kathik quite likes the idea of coaching as well — helping and working with other people which I am not surprised about. He will be a great success when he does that as well. I also think he might play a few more little tournaments along the way,” said Flower in the post-match press conference.
