Former India and Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni detailed on how it was important for a captain as a leader to earn respect. Speaking at an event, Dhoni detailed on how it was important for the leader to gain the trust of those around him. The ex-CSK skipper notes that in India, the emotional connect makes more impact than being professional in nature.
MS Dhoni’s golden mantra on leadership
“Important thing is that you need to earn the respect of the people you are leading. You cannot command or demand respect, it has to be earned. I maybe having a position in the institution and it needs to be respected. But me as an individual, sitting on that chair, needs to earn that respect. I can’t be saying you need to respect me because I’m sitting on this chair,” MS Dhoni said.
