The IPL 2024 is approaching it’s end. All the matches for the group stage is done and dusted and it is now time for the IPL Playoffs. Also more importantly, with the ICC T20 World Cup just 2 weeks away, it is crucial as to whether Team India should make any changes to it’s World Cup squad. A major change which India should make will be the inclusion of Rinku Singh in the squad.
If Rinku Singh gets his chance in the team then a player needs to be move out. Axar Patel would be the ideal fit. India has an abundance of all-rounders and a plethora of spinners in the team.

Why Rinku Singh?
Indian fans were left in a state of shock after Rinku Singh was not picked in the India squad. He however is among the 4 travelling reserves in the team. But the question stays – Why Rinku Singh – Arguably he is the best finisher in the team. Especially in the shortest format of the game, no other batter possess his destructive hitting prowess.
He stormed into limelight after slamming 5 consecutive sixes in IPL 2023. Since then he went on to make his debut for the Men in Blue. After a rather lacklustre IPL 2024, Rinku didn’t find his spot in the 15-member main squad.
With pitches assisting the spinners, Rinku is the best bet for India. Despite Shivam Dube scoring runs in IPL 2024 at a rate of knots, Dube has been poor against the spinners. That can’t be said for Rinku. The Kolkata Knight Riders finisher is equally adept in slamming both pacers and spinners.
Axar Patel Out?
Axar Patel had a good IPL 2024 stint. Given the ground conditions in USA and Caribbeans, India brought in a number of spinners. But now upon looking, the likes of Jadeja, Kuldeep, Chahal is more than enough for Rohit Sharma and Co. With India needing more fore power, Rinku is miles ahead of Axar in terms of finishing the game.
As a result, it would be a wise choice for Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma to swap Rinku with Axar Patel in the team. As for the DC spinner, Axar can be brought back into the squad, in case any player suffers any injury concerns.
