IPL 2024 Playoffs set, RR vs RCB in Eliminator, KKR vs SRH in Qualifier 1

Rajasthan Royals failed to take the 2nd spot after RR vs KKR was washed out in Guwahati. They will face red-hot Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Eliminator on May 22.

IPL 2024 league stage is officially over with RR vs KKR abandoned due to rain. And with that, it’s the business end. IPL 2024 Playoffs will begin in Ahmedabad with KKR vs SRH in Qualifier 1. In Eliminator, it is RR vs RCB also in Ahmedabad.

Despite dominating points table early on, Rajasthan Royals ended up with a four-match losing streak. They wanted redemption in Guwahati. But rain played spoilsport as the match was washed out. With that, Kolkata Knight Riders finished the league stage on top with 20 points from 14 games. Sunrisers Hyderabad finished 2nd with 17 points.

Rajasthan Royals also finished with 17 points but they miss out on a Qualifier 1 spot due to inferior net run rate. Royal Challengers Bengaluru made a dramatic late charge to finish 4th, pipping Chennai Super Kings on NRR.

Qualifier 1: KKR vs SRH

The two favourites to lift the title will face off on May 21 in Ahmedabad for a spot in the IPL 2024 final. With It will be a battle between two powerplay dominators. Sunrisers Hyderabad have been flying high with Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head dominating proceedings in the first 6 overs. Kolkata Knight Riders aren’t far behind with Sunil Narine giving them a solid start. But the absence of Phil Salt will make things difficult.

Eliminator: RR vs RCB

From a 0.02% chance on April 21 after losing six matches on the trot, Royal Challengers Bengaluru have made a dramatic turnaround. Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis have led from the front to win six matches on the bounce. With win over MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings, they are now a solid favourite to win IPL 2024.

But before that, they face Rajasthan Royals. Sanju Samson-led RR were the early favourites as they maintained a comfortable lead at the top with 16 points from 9 matches. But then, everything changed.

RR are now winless in their last five matches, forcing them to settle for a slot in the Eliminator. Now, it’s do-or-die for both RR and RCB in Ahmedabad on May 22.
