Wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma will lead the Punjab Kings in their final game in IPL 2024 against SRH on Sunday. Sharma will take over the reins from stand-in skipper Sam Curran who has returned home to prepare for the series against Pakistan and the T20 World Cup. Further, the return of Shikhar Dhawan – who has been on the sidelines since April – will not be making a comeback and might have already played his last game for the side potentially.
Jitesh Sharma to lead PBKS in final game of IPL 2024
Punjab Kings were among the first teams to be knocked out of the tournament. The side has managed to win only five games while they have faced defeat on 8 occasions. They are languishing at the bottom of the points table in the 9th position. Jitesh Sharma is the designated vice-captain for the side.
However, Sharma wasn’t handed over the captaincy when Shikhar Dhawan was injured. Instead, Sam Curran was made the skipper. The England all-rounder saw very limited success while leading the side.
