It is not a secret that Virat Kohli has been influenced by MS Dhoni quite a lot. Kohli has played under Dhoni’s leadership for quite a few years and India have seldom seen a better finisher that Mahi. Kohli in a chat on Jio Cinema opened up on MS Dhoni’s mindset while talking about keeping outside noise at bay.
“I don’t need to react to outside noise. I know what I can do on the ground. I don’t need anyone to tell me how good a player I am or what my ability is. I never asked someone how to win matches. I’ve experienced the situation in the middle, failed and learned. If you’re consistently winning matches for your team, it is not a case of sheer luck,” Kohli said when asked about how he handles outside noise.

“People used to complain about Mahi Bhai (MS Dhoni) stretching matches till the last over. How many matches did he finish? He knows what he is doing. He knows if he can stretch the match till the last over, he’ll make his team win. He will take the game to such a situation that the opposition team will start trembling with fear,” he added.
Although the last years have seen Dhoni and Kohli across the field from each other only in IPL, the admiration for his past captain has remained as strong as ever.
