Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma shouldn’t play in the T20 World Cup 2024, an opinion that has been becoming popular. Many feel that after a major letdown in 2022, the senior pros should be included in the India cricket team’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2024.
Only youngsters should play in T20 World Cup 2024
The same view is also held by 2007 T20 World Cup winner Robin Uthappa. Talking with JioCinema, the IPL great said, “I’m going to catch a lot of flak for this, but I’ll take it. I think they should’ve moved on after the previous World Cup itself.”
“I think the youngsters should’ve played in this World Cup. The senior players have had their go, and these guys are showing true potential. The fact that they’ve been performing in the IPL consistently. A lot of these guys who are performing now, the likes of Shubman Gill, should be there,” Uthappa added.

Should Ro-Ko play in T20 World Cup?
If we chart both of the greats’ recent form, it’s Rohit Sharma who’ll receive more flak. The former Mumbai Indians skipper has scored just 349 runs in 13 matches in the IPL 2024. 105 of these come against the Chennai Super Kings, meaning that he has scored 244 runs in 12 matches and hasn’t scored one fifty or a century.
Looking at Kohli, one can’t find much to criticize. His middle-order strike is the only concern, but in his recent matches, he’s upped that and proven that he’s up for the challenge that new T20 cricket proposes.
