This will come in as big shock. The Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) & BCCI’S sponsor ‘Dream11 link’ with fake UVA T20 League is being probed. BCCI’s Anti Corruption Unit questions Dream11 role in the fake T20 League

It is worth noting that FanCode the streaming partner of the FAKE UVA T20 league is owned by Dream Sports which also owns India’s leading fantasy platform Dream11.
FanCode was responsible for the Live Streaming of the league. According to a report in leading English Daily The Indian Express, Indian cricket board’s anti-corruption unit (ACU) provided inputs to Mohali police suggesting the platform may have ‘links’ to the fake T20 league they are investigating. The ACU has asked the investigators to look into the role of Dream11 and streaming platform FanCode.
The said league was announced in the name of Sri Lanka Cricket and it was claimed many international Sri Lankan cricketers will be playing the tournament. The league which was claimed to be played in Sri Lanka actually was being played in a local club ground in Sawara village close to Mohali. Streaming platform FanCode live streamed the league on the opening day. As soon as SLC cried foul and declared that they don’t have any association with the league the entire matter came to fore.

According to Indian Express, In a communication to the Mohali Police, assessed by the paper, the ACU said: “There is also chance that Dream11 may be linked. We think the kits used might have been from a previous Dream11 tourna-ment. All of the kits had “Dream11” on the back – there is clearly a chance that these could have been forged, but two sides had tape covering up the Dream11 sign. This is strange: if someone was forging it and didn’t want two sides to have it displayed then arguably, they wouldn’t print in the first place.”

“With the regard to FanCode, we would also question their involvement,” the letter said.

When contacted, BCCI’s Anti- Corruption Unit (ACU) chief Ajit Singh Shekhawat confirmed that the unit provided pointers to the Mohali Police.

After Indian Express report, InsideSport also reached out to FanCode to sought their take on the entire matter.

According to the FanCode spokesperson, ‘We also were duped by the organizers. As soon as it was revealed that the league was fake, we immediately stopped all streaming on the platform”

The leading fantasy platform of the country is currently central sponsor for IPL for which they are paying in a range of 38-40 Cr per annum to the board. Other than this Dream11 is also the BCCI’S Associate partner for the Indian cricket team matches played at home. Not only this, the brand from last few years have emerged as biggest on-advertiser on cricket.

Other than this Dream11 is associated with various international cricket boards including NewZealand Cricket either as its sponsor or fantasy sports partner.
