Rohit Sharma aims to join Dhoni in the elusive category and bring home India's first World Cup trophy since the 2011

Board of Cricket Council in India Secretary Jay Shah and Indian Cricket Team Captain Rohit Sharma unveiled India’s new kit for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. The BCCI’s official handle shared a video showcasing their new colours. The event, held at the Narendra Modi Stadium, featured the popular German sportswear manufacturer Adidas displaying the new training kit, coaching staff kit, and the main kit.

BCCI announce a new training kit for T20 World Cup 2024

Adidas, the BCCI’s kit partner, had previously unveiled the new jersey on May 6, featuring Rohit, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, and spinner Kuldeep Yadav in a promotional video. The jersey went on sale on May 7, but the training kit and tracksuits’ colours were revealed for the first time during the event. The training shirt is blue with streaks of black and lime on the sides, while the tracksuit is navy blue with lime borders.

A video posted by the BCCI showed Shah and Rohit arriving at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to inspect the attire. They posed with the new jersey alongside an Adidas executive, and Rohit signed a jersey with his name on it.

Rohit Sharma aims for glory at the T20 World Cup 2024

Rohit aims to join Dhoni in the elusive category and bring home India’s first World Cup trophy since the 2011 win in the 50-over tournament. This victory would also end India’s much-criticized ICC trophy drought, which dates back to their 2013 Champions Trophy win, also under Dhoni.

While India came close to breaking the streak last year, they were stunned by Australia in the 2023 ODI World Cup final. This will be Rohit’s second time leading India in a T20 World Cup, with their 2022 campaign ending in the semifinals in Australia.

India kicks off their T20 World Cup journey on June 5 against Ireland in New York, followed by a match against arch-rivals Pakistan on June 9 at the same venue. Group A also includes Canada and co-hosts USA.
