Indian teams have always been top contenders in any ICC tournament. As they are one of the top teams in world cricket. If we just talk about the T20 World Cup, as it is around the corner, India always went in as favorites in this ICC tournament also but failed to fulfill expectations after the 2007 edition, as that year they were the champions.

Humiliating defeat by the Three Lions
India’s major setback came in the last edition of the T20 World Cup. They lost against England by 10 wickets in the semifinals of the 2022 T20 World Cup.
After a disappointing end with the bat, as India managed to make just 162 runs in their 20 overs, the men in blue failed to make an impact with their bowling as well. They couldn’t stop England, as they beat India by 10 wickets. It’s fair to say they humiliated India, as the Indian bowling line got totally exposed.
First-time World Cup loss against arch-rival
A loss against Pakistan is considered unacceptable in India. And if it happens in a World Cup game, especially by 10 wickets, it’s nothing short of a crushing blow to the nation’s pride.
October 24, 2021, is still known as a dark day in Indian cricket history. In the group stage match against arch-rivals Pakistan, India failed to make an impact while batting. As they lost crucial wickets of Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul in the first 6 overs of the batting powerplay. Shaheen Afridi’s fiery bowling cleared India’s top-order batters. When Pakistan came to bat, their batters Babar Azam and Mohammed Rizwan made batting look easy as they easily defeated India by 10 wickets.
Simmons shatters India’s dream!
The 2016 IND vs West Indies semi-final is also one game that still hurts Indian fans. India was inching closer to clinching their second T20 World Cup trophy, having been in good form throughout the group stage matches. However, in the semi-finals, Lendl Simmons’ heroic innings of 82 runs in 51 balls shattered India’s dream.
Despite setting a big total of 192 runs in 20 overs. India’s bowlers were disappointed, especially in the middle overs, as they lost the grip they had established in the first 6 overs. Eventually, India lost to the Caribbean side by 7 wickets. These are all the major setbacks that India saw in T20 World Cup cricket.
