Miffed Gujarat Titans complain after Chennai Super Kings get ‘preferential’ treatment

Chennai Super Kings and Lucknow Super Giants will face off on May 10 in Ahmedabad. The game is of high important for GT, as elimination looms over their heads.

The Gujarat Titans have alleged that the Chennai Super Kings are receiving preferential treatment. The Shubman Gill-led team will go against the Men in Yellow on May 10 at their home ground, the Narendra Modi Stadium. The Titans have claimed that their opponents were allowed access to practice range hitting on May 8, which isn’t all according to the IPL’s practice session guidelines.

A team is only allowed to practice range-hitting from the center of the stadium before the eve of the match. So, Chennai shouldn’t have been allowed access to practice until May 9th. As per Cricbuzz, Gujrat has officially complained to BCCI regarding the overstep of the rule.

What are range-hitting rules in IPL?

Teams are allowed to practice range hitting in the last hour of their scheduled practice session on the eve of the match. That pitch can also be used for bowling run-throughs and run-ups during the allotted 60 minutes. One team for each team is prepared next to the main square, and only throw-downs can be used as a method for batting practice.

Gujarat Titans victims of the same behavior?

Although Gujarat has complained that Chennai Super Kings are getting preferential treatment, according to a Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) official, their skipper Shubman Gill himself practiced range hitting on May 7th, three days before the GT vs CSK.

“Shubman Gill too practiced range hitting on Tuesday evening,” the GCA official said to Cricbuzz.
