Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have received a boost with the news that wicket-keeper batsman Rahmanullah Gurbaz will be rejoining the squad imminently.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz Ready to Return
The 22-year-old Afghan player left the IPL on May 1st to be with his mother, who was experiencing health issues. In a tweet, Rahmanullah Gurbaz expressed his gratitude for the support he received and confirmed his imminent return to the KKR “family,” adding that his mother is thankfully feeling better.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz in a tweet announced:
“After a short break from IPL due to my mother’s illness, i will join my kkr family very soon, thanks for all the messages and prayers, alhumdulillah she is feeling better now thanks.”
Limited Role for Rahmanullah Gurbaz in IPL 2024
Despite Gurbaz’s upcoming return, it’s important to note that he hadn’t featured in any matches for KKR this season. The team’s strong performance, currently sitting atop the IPL 2024 points table with eight wins in eleven matches, demonstrates their ability to succeed without him.

KKR focus on Maintaining Momentum
KKR’s next challenge is against the Mumbai Indians on Saturday at Eden Gardens. The team is clearly in good form and their confidence is high. Gurbaz’s return adds depth to the squad, but his absence hasn’t derailed their impressive IPL campaign so far.
