Odisha FC Women had dreams to fulfil when the club was founded 20 months ago, and despite being new to the scene, they pursued that dream with determination. Now, they are set to represent India in the inaugural AFC Women’s Champions League 2024-25.
This new-format Women’s Champions League will feature 20 teams competing in a preliminary round, followed by a group stage and knockout rounds. Odisha FC, one of the newest additions to Indian women’s football, earned their spot by clinching the Indian Women’s League (IWL) title in the 2023-24 season.

Odisha FC Women dethrone Gokulam Kerala to win IWL 2023-24
They topped the table with 31 points from 12 matches, securing their maiden title. Thus dethroning the defending champions, Gokulam FC, who had been widely considered the undisputed leaders in Indian women’s football.
Throughout the season, Odisha FC displayed impressive consistency in both attack and defence, scoring 31 goals and conceding only four. India international Pyari Xaxa emerged as the team’s top scorer, tying for second place in the league, with eight goals.
Win Theingi Tun from Myanmar was also a key contributor, scoring seven goals. India international and team captain Indumathi Kathiresan played a crucial role in the midfield, guiding her team to success.
