The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have suffered another major blow to their bowling attack with pace spearhead Deepak Chahar likely ruled out of the remaining Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) season.
Deepak Chahar injury woes
Deepak Chahar sustained a leg injury during CSK’s loss to the Punjab Kings (PBKS) last week. This latest setback as per TOI adds to his ongoing battle with injuries, which have hampered his ability to secure a permanent spot in the Indian national team.
Early signs not encouraging for CSK
CSK head coach Stephen Fleming previously expressed concern about the severity of Deepak Chahar’s injury, stating it “doesn’t look good” and hoping for a positive update from the medical team. Chahar’s injury occurred while bowling the second ball of PBKS’ chase on May 1st.
CSK faces bowling depth issues
Deepak Chahar’s absence adds to CSK’s bowling woes, which were already exacerbated by injuries to other key players. This lack of depth creates a significant challenge for the team in their remaining IPL matches.
