DRS, May 7: Hardik Pandya finds form as bowler, SKY fights fatigue to sizzle, a Hitman headache

Welcome to our special segment DRS or the Daily Review System. In this, InsideSport will provide you with the top stories of IPL from a day before that you might have missed in the hustle and bustle of your busy life

Mumbai Indians had a great outing against Sunrisers Hyderabad as they romped home to a 7-wicket victory at the Wankhede stadium. Skipper Hardik Pandya, who wasn’t in great touch before this game, found his rhythm as a bowler and sizzled with a three-wicket haul and an economic spell. Suryakumar Yadav proved to be the ever-dependable as the got the side across the line while fighting through the pain in the run-chase.

On the downside, Rohit Sharma’s poor form in IPL 2024 continued, casting aspersions on his performance in the upcoming T20 World Cup. There was barely anything positive for SRH on Monday, with both their batting and bowling going haywire. Such is the journey in IPL that it becomes unpredictable when it comes to taking a stand on which team would come out on top. On that note, let’s take a look at some of the eyeball grabbing headlines from a cracker of a contest on Monday.

No pain, no gain for SKY

In what is a huge relief to India cricket team fans, Suryakumar Yadav clarified that he was ‘just tired’ and wasn’t injured in the game against SRH after scoring a match-winning hundred. The star batter looked in discomfort throughout his stay in the middle and struggled to run between the wickets, sparking a potential injury concern. However, SKY revealed that it was the first time since December 2023 that he had fielded for 20 overs and then batted and hence he felt tired.

Return of Hardik Pandya, the bowler

Mumbai skipper Hardik Pandya seems to have finally regained his form when it comes to bowling. The all-rounder bowled an economical four-over spell against SRH. Pandya’s return to bowling well comes at a good time for India, especially with the T20 World Cup 2024 fast approaching.

Hitman flops, yet again!

In a worrying sign for India, skipper Rohit Sharma’s dismal form continues in the IPL ahead of the T20 World Cup. Ever since his century against CSK on April 14, he has managed to score just 69 runs in six innings. Overall, the Indian skipper has looked out of touch in the IPL and this could potentially haunt India in the marquee tournament.

No place for Arjun Tendulkar!

Mumbai Indians included a fast-bowling all-rounder in their first XI vs SRH but it was not Arjun Tendulkar! The left-arm seamer, who played four matches in IPL 2023, has continuously being warming the bench and was once again ignored. In Match 55 of IPL 2024 against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), MI handed a debut to another seam bowler in Anshul Kamboj.

Zinta’s soft corner for MSD

PBKS co-owner and acclaimed actor Preity Zinta shared her disappointment after her side lost a crucial match against CSK. Zinta, like millions of fans, had been hoping for a spectacular performance from former CSK captain MS Dhoni in Dharamsala, but he was dismissed for a first-ball duck.

IPL teams, beware of Sunil Narine

Sunil Narine’s rampage in the 2024 IPL continues to send shivers down the spines of opponents. The Kolkata Knight Riders‘ all-rounder wasn’t just destructive with the bat against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG); he was economical with the ball as well, showcasing his all-around dominance.
