Azam Khan has faced a lot of flak over the past few days. Interestingly, the criticism hasn’t been levied on his batting but on his fitness. In late March, the wicketkeeper batter had failed to complete a 2-km run. Then, he got injured midway through the PAK vs NZ T20I series, and while he’s been named in the squad for the upcoming white ball tours of Ireland and England, his fitness is yet to be tested.

His fitness isn’t great, but his form isn’t much better either. He’s scored just 29 runs for the Pakistan cricket team at an abysmal average of 4.83 and has an embarrassing strike rate of 90.62. The keeper batter has shown that he can hit a long ball, but he’s yet to prove himself on the big stage.
Currently, preparing at the national camp in Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore for two big series before the T20 World Cup 2024 stars, Azam Khan spoke with the media about his poor form and his wish to perform for Pakistan.
“We are not robots that you press a button and we start performing. We all want to perform for the Pakistan team because that’s how you build your name. If given an opportunity, I will try to give my best,” Azam said.
