The Mumbai Indians’ dismal IPL season continue. The team wasted yet another opportunity on Friday when it lost to Kolkata Knight Riders by 24 runs after failing in a modest 170-run chase. The season thus far for Hardik Pandya’s team is summed up by the fact that it was KKR’s first victory at Wankhede Stadium in twelve years. The team has only won three games after 11 and is about to be eliminated.
Jaffer’s suggestion for Hardik Pandya
Former India opener Wasim Jaffer had a suggestion for Hardik and the Mumbai Indians team management, as MI is all but out of the running for the playoffs. Jaffer wants the team to rest Jasprit Bumrah once the team’s chances of qualifying are mathematically eliminated, as the T20 World Cup is coming up in less than a month.
“Yes. If after one match, if it is confirmed that they can’t proceed to the playoffs, resting Bumrah will actually be better in India,” Jaffer said when asked to comment on the suggestion.

Bumrah on song, as usual
Despite the defeat, MI’s best player was Jasprit Bumrah, who took three wickets in his three and a half overs while giving up just eighteen runs. Even though they bowled the Knight Riders out at 169, the batting lineup was ineffective because nobody, save for Suryakumar Yadav (56), appeared secure at the wicket. Furthermore, Tim David and Hardik Pandya arrived late and failed to have an impact on the game.
