ICC Men’s Test rankings: India dethroned! Aussies overtake Rohit Sharma’s side to take number one spot following annual update

India, though, continue to lead the ODI and T20I rankings.

Pat Cummins-led Australia on Friday reclaimed the no.1 spot of the ICC Men’s Test Team rankings from India, who they defeated in the World Test Championship final last year. The change occurred following the annual update that drops results from the 2020-21 season and reflects all series completed since May 2021.

Aussies making merry

With 124 rating points, Australia are now in the lead, but India, who lost out to them, are only four points adrift and 15 points ahead of third-placed England. With 103 points, South Africa are the fourth team over the 100-point threshold.

No change in lower order

The teams ranked third through ninth are still in the same order. There are currently only nine teams in the rankings because Afghanistan, Ireland, and Zimbabwe have not played enough Test matches. Zimbabwe have only played three Test matches in the last three years. To be listed on the rankings table, a team must participate in eight Test matches over a three-year period.

However, India continue to lead the ODI and T20I rankings.

Despite falling short to Australia in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup final, India now lead the table by six points, having amassed 122 points. The top 10 is unchanged, but Ireland are now ranked 11th, ahead of Zimbabwe.
