Mohammad Kaif has come on to defend Virat Kohli. The ace Indian batter has been constantly questioned about his low strike rate. Kaif drew comparison to the innings played by Travis Head in the Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Rajasthan Royals clash. The Australian opener hammered a fine fifty slamming 58 runs in 44 deliveries.
Kaif defends Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli has come under the radar off late for having a low strike rate. Despite having a brilliant form in IPL 2024 and scoring huge runs, Kohli has been criticised for having a poor strike rate. On the other hand, hard hitters like Travis Head and Co are often applauded for bludgeoning huge blows.
“Travis Head played really well in tough situation yesterday, he scored 58(44). But if Virat Kohli scored same score, I can guarantee everyone behind on Virat Kohli for strike rate and says he played slow and his SR is low,” Mohammad Kaif told Star Sports.
Now Travis Head played a similar Kohli-esq innings for Sunrisers Hyderabad. He played 44 balls slamming 6 fours, 3 sixes and had a strike rate of 131.8. Now, Kaif argued that had Virat Kohli played a similar innings then everyone would have criticised the ace batter for having such a low strike rate.
