AB de Villiers defends Virat Kohli
“Virat Kohli catching criticism about his strike rate, it’s being going for way too long. And I am sort of fed up with it now. I am frustrated to say the least, this guy is one of the best players to ever play the game of cricket. He is incredible in the IPL, he plays a certain role for RCB and I am pretty much have had enough of data driven pundits who keep criticising this man when you don’t have knowledge of the game. How many games of cricket have you played? How many IPL hundreds have you scored?”, questioned AB de Villiers.
ABD has hit hard at the data driven pundits. He argued that Kohli currently has better strike rate than his record breaking season, when he scored the most runs by a batter in a single edition of IPL.
“He’s been doing it day in and day out for his team in a certain way. He’s got a formula and it is up to the rest of the team, the coach and the captain to strategize around that. Personally for me, as always thought that Virat is best at number 3, I would bat him there. He loves opening and his records speak for itself. Virat has the perfect opportunity to play the cement role that he has for so many years and his strike rate this season is even better than the record breaking season that he had, not so long ago,” concluded de Villiers.
