Lucknow Super Giants were dealt with a severe blow as their main speedster Mayank Yadav walked off the field once again, after facing a side strain, on his comeback from the same injury. The pacer, who raked up speeds of over 155 kmph in the IPL 2024, could only bowl 3.1 overs in his spell against Mumbai Indians, claiming figures of 1/31.
Against Mumbai, in his return match, it looked like that Mayank wasn’t still operating at a 100%. He managed to bowl in 140s consistently, but used a lot of slower balls, while his fastest delivery was a little over 146 kmph. Eventually, he left the field, before completing his quota of overs.

Mayank Yadav All But Out of IPL 2024
After the match, LSG coach Justin Langer confirmed that Mayank had completed his rehab well, but then he again suffered a strain in the same area. He also went on to say that scans will be needed to see, how much damage he had done to the affected area. “Looks like he is sore in the same spot. His rehab has been perfect. He has bowled pain-free the last week or so and has looked in great condition. We will have a scan and find out tomorrow,” Langer said after the match.
With this, and also after the announcement of the Indian team for the T20 World Cup, one can only assume that it curtains for Mayank Yadav in the IPL 2024. The team wouldn’t want to risk him any further. In fact, skipper KL Rahul confirmed the same.

LSG captain Rahul said, “I haven’t spoken to Mayank much. He had some pain in his sides. He said ‘thoda dukh raha hai’. So, I asked him to go out. He is useful for us. We need to take care of him.”
