IPL 2024: CSK coach back Ravindra Jadeja to find form before crucial T20 World Cup selection

Jadeja's performance in the remaining IPL matches will be critical. The World Cup hopeful will be aiming to silence his doubters and solidify his place in India's T20 World Cup squad.

With the ICC T20 World Cup squad announcement looming on May 1st, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja’s recent struggles in the IPL have caused concern among Indian cricket fans.

Despite his status as India’s first-choice all-rounder, Jadeja’s batting and bowling performances have fallen short of expectations this season.

Cause for concern: Ravindra Jadeja

CSK batting coach Mike Hussey, however, remains confident in Jadeja’s abilities. While acknowledging Jadeja’s underwhelming stats (157 runs at a strike rate of 131.93 and only 4 wickets with the ball), Hussey emphasized his all-around value to the team. “He’s one of our best players… He’s almost three players in one,” stated Hussey, highlighting Jadeja’s contributions with bat, ball, and fielding.

Ravindra Jadeja in for T20 World Cup?

Ravindra Jadeja‘s unbeaten fifty against Lucknow Super Giants offered a glimpse of his usual form. However, inconsistency has plagued his season.

Michael Hussey attributes this partly to Jadeja’s new batting position (No. 4-5) compared to his usual role at No. 6. “He is playing a different role… this year, we’ve asked him a few times to come in at the No. 4 position,” explained Hussey. Jadeja has displayed adaptability, adjusting his approach based on the game situation.

With the T20 World Cup just around the corner, the Indian selectors will be closely monitoring Ravindra Jadeja’s performance. CSK and Hussey are confident that Jadeja will rediscover his form before the crucial deadline. “He’s still in a good frame of mind… He’s playing good cricket at the moment,” assured Hussey.

Jadeja’s performance in the remaining IPL matches will be critical. The World Cup hopeful will be aiming to silence his doubters and solidify his place in India’s T20 World Cup squad.
