Pakistan cricket team fans received some promising news recently regarding the return of fast bowler Haris Rauf. Teammate Shaheen Afridi, named Man of the Series after Pakistan’s successful T20I series against New Zealand, shed light on Haris Rauf’s rehabilitation during a post-match interview.
Haris Rauf Resumes Bowling, T20 World Cup in Sight:
Shaheen Afridi revealed that Haris Rauf resumed bowling in the nets three days ago, indicating positive progress in his recovery from a shoulder injury. However, Shaheen Afridi cautioned against rushing Haris Rauf back into action. While optimistic about his recovery, Afridi suggested that the upcoming three-match T20I series in Ireland (May 10-14) might be too soon for him.
He believes the following four-match T20 series in England (May 22-30) might be a more suitable timeframe for Rauf’s return.
This cautious approach prioritizes ensuring Rauf is fully fit and capable of handling the demands of back-to-back international matches, particularly considering the upcoming T20 World Cup in the USA and West Indies.
“Haris Rauf has resumed bowling three days ago, which shows he is making good progress. However, in my opinion, the upcoming three-match T20I series in Ireland might be too soon for him. Perhaps the England series would be ideal for his return.”
Haris Rauf crucial role
Shaheen Afridi highlighted the significance of Haris Rauf‘s presence in the team, particularly his wicket-taking abilities in the middle overs.
“It’s good news that Haris is getting better because if you look at the statistics, Rauf is crucial in taking wickets in the middle overs and Pakistan will be needing that during the World Cup,” Afridi stated.
