Plethora of runs! Punjab Kings created history as they went on to chase down the highest successful run chase in T20 History. Playing against Kolkata Knight Riders, PBKS chased down 262 runs after having lost just 2 wickets and 10 balls to spare. This prompted stand-in PBKS skipper Sam Curran to retort that Cricket is turning into baseball.
Be it pinch hitting or carnage, IPL 2024 has been a delight for batters. Each team has managed to score above 200+ runs on multiple occasions. Kolkata Knight Riders batted first and went on to amass 261 runs, but in reply Punjab Kings replied strongly. An unbeaten century by Jonny Bairstow halted KKR’s winning run.
Cricket or Baseball?
“Very pleasing. Most importantly the win. Cricket is turning into baseball. We have had a few tough weeks. But we hung in there. The way guys train. The confidence and the coaches. The small grounds and the dew. The reviews which might give you an extra ball. We hung in there and managed to chase it down with balls to spare. Pleased for Johnny. What an amazing knock. Shashank Singh has been the find of the tournament for us. Ashutosh as well. Proud of everyone,” said Sam Curran after the game.
