IPL 2024’s highest buy Mitchell Starc wasn’t allowed to compete in KKR vs PBKS owning to a finger injury. The pacer, who has a finger injury, wasn’t allowed to tape his finger as per the ICC rule. West Indies legend Brian Lara explained why Starc could not participate in the game as he elaborated the rules o the game.
Starc forced to miss KKR vs PBKS due to odd rule
As per ICC, the index finger of the bowling arm cannot be taped and a player will not be allowed to participate in the game if done so. Lara mentioned on commentary that he had spoken with Starc before the game and that the bowler had conveyed to him about his non-participation owing to the stringent rules.

Starc has picked up 6 wickets in 7 matches at 47.83, is going at 11.48 runs an over, and takes a wicket on every 25th ball he delivers. KKR is basically paying Starc a whopping Rs 4 crore for every wicket. Not the returns they or the fast bowler himself expected.
“Coming back, obviously to a different team. Getting to know about the youngsters in this KKR set-up, I have played against a few, but I’ve seen a lot of talent in this franchise. Sharing my thoughts and answering their questions, it’s been enjoyable. We know that the grounds in India are smaller when compared to back at home (in Australia), the wickets are generally pretty good throughout the game, and the impact player rule as well,” Starc said ahead of the game.
