Lucknow Super Giants pacer Mayank Yadav is training as he prepares to make his comeback in IPL 2024. The youngster, who grabbed eyeballs with his fiery 150+ kmph deliveries, missed the last few matches after suffering a side strain. LSG bowling coach Morne Morkel provided an update on Yadav’s return and confirmed that the team will aim to bring the player in from the next game onwards.
Mayank Yadav gears up for comeback vs CSK
Morkel revealed that Mayank Yadav stayed back in Lucknow to give him some more rest while the rest of the team traveled to Chennai.
“He is with (assistant coach) Lance Klusener and the rest of the guys in Lucknow, training and getting ready. So I think, anything from the next game onwards, we’ll look to bring him back in,” Morkel told reporters.
“He’s coming along very nicely. We’re very happy with his progression. He started bowling three-four days ago, so for him it’s just a matter now, of course of him, the expectation is greater, (given) that he bowls every ball at 150 kmph. It’s just to really get his body and his mind in that sort of state where he’s confident, running and bowling all four overs at a tight pace,” he added.

Initially, while it was expected that Mayank Yadav will only miss two matches, he has now missed four, including the one vs Chennai Super Kings. He had last played in the match against Gujarat Titans on April 7, where he could not finish his full quota of overs as well. In fact, contrary to the above 155 kmph speeds he had raked up in the first two matches, he could barely cross 140 kmph in that encounter.
