RCB got the best bowling attack? KKR star caught in awkward moment, laughs at his own remark

Kolkata Knight Riders' all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer's response to his own statement left everyone in splits. Find out what he had to say about RCB's bowling lineup.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) player Venkatesh Iyer found himself in a bit of a tangle recently during an interview with IPL broadcasters prior to the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on Sunday.

While discussing his opponents, Iyer initially stated that RCB possessed the most formidable bowling attack in the tournament, making them a challenging side to face. However, immediately following this remark, Iyer erupted in laughter, seemingly realizing the inaccuracy of his statement. It is no secret that RCB has struggled in the ongoing IPL season, languishing at the bottom of the points table. Their bowling attack, in particular, has been a cause for concern, failing to consistently deliver impactful performances.

Iyer’s reaction on camera has sparked amusement among fans and commentators alike, turning the moment into an awkward yet lighthearted one. Social media users have been quick to react to the clip, with some finding humor in Iyer’s gaffe, while others pointing out RCB’s bowling woes.

KKR script a nervy 1-run win vs RCB

The much-anticipated clash between KKR and RCB on Sunday turned out to be a nail-biter, with KKR emerging victorious by a mere margin of one run.

KKR set a challenging target of 223 runs, but RCB’s batting line-up put up a valiant chase. Half-centuries from Rajat Patidar and Will Jacks kept RCB in contention. However, the introduction of Andre Russell into the attack proved decisive for KKR, dismissing both set batsmen in quick succession.

The final over of the match added another layer of drama. RCB needed 21 runs to win, and with Karn Sharma at the crease. Interestingly, he smashed three sixes, bringing the equation down to a manageable 3 runs required off the last ball. However, nerves got the better of RCB as a brilliant run-out by Phil Salt sealed the win for KKR.
