Making an ideal bowling line-up for the RCB could be the most difficult thing in all of cricket. But the challenging task is worth attempting. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru management has been more miss than hit. Despite performing well, bowlers like Vyshak Vijaykumar and Yash Dayal were dropped despite doing well in the prior match.
RCB has 18 bowling options, including bowling and batting all-rounders, spinners, and pacers. Yet they have failed to crack the code.
RCB’s bowling options
Cameron Green, Alzarri Joseph, Mohammed Siraj, Yash Dayal, Will Jacks, Lockie Ferguson, Reece Topley, Mayank Dagar, Tom Curran, Mahipal Lomror, Rajan Kumar, Karn Sharma, Manoj Bhandage, Akash Deep, Saurav Chauhan, Himanshu Sharma, Swapnil Singh, Vyshak Vijaykumar.
IPL 2024: RCB’s ideal bowling line-up
Virat Kohli
Faf du Plessis
Will Jacks (spin-bowling all-rounder)
Rajat Patidar
Cameron Green (pace-bowling all-rounder)
Dinesh Karthik
Karn Sharma (leg spinner)
Yash Dayal (left-arm pacer)
Mohammed Siraj (right-arm pacer)
Reece Topley (left-arm pacer)
Vijaykumar Vyshak (right-arm pacer)
RCB’s best bowler so far has been Yash Dayal. The left-arm pacer has 9 wickets, but he has a poor average (37.85), strike rate (23.14), and economy (9.81). In fact, that has been the case for every RCB bowler; they have all been expensive and haven’t taken a lot of wickets.
Their 4th highest wicket-taker, Glenn Maxwell, is on indefinite rest. Cameron Green has an equal number of wickets (6) as Mohammed Siraj and has a better overall bowling record.
