Musical chair continues: RCB have made 16 changes to their playing XI in IPL 2024

Even as the tournament moves to the second half, RCB are yet to zoom in on a perfect combination and are trying out different players.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Sunday made three changes to their playing XI for their away tie against Kolkata Knight Riders. With the three changes, RCB have made a total of 16 changes to their side since the start of IPL 2024, the most by any team.

RCB unsure of perfect XI

RCB has been experimenting with their playing XI right from the start of the tournament. They have made changes in almost every other game, with numerous losses not helping their cause at all.

Faf du Plessis’s team are 10th in the IPL table at the moment, having only 1 out of their first 7 games. The consecutive losses have played a role in RCB opting for changes in personnel every other match, with the management eager to find the right combination for the team.

The problems of ‘unsettled XI’

However, so many changes have hampered RCB’s flow, with most of the players getting a maximum of 3-4 games to show their mettle and being replaced before getting settled.

Get it right or perish

This can be a major problem for RCB with the tournament moving towards the business end. RCB need to get their combination right in order for them to fight for a comeback and have any hopes of qualifying to the IPL playoff stage.
