When Rishabh Pant smashed 128 alone in DC’s score of 187 vs SRH

Pant's score at the time was the highest by an Indian in IPL, and he held the record for 2 years before it was broken by KL Rahul

Delhi Capitals will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2024 on Saturday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Captain Rishabh Pant will return to the home game for the first time since 2019. Pant produced one of the most memorable IPL performances, scoring 128 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Delhi. The DC vs SRH game will be played from 7.30 PM IST.

At 20, Rishabh Pant became the second-youngest player, after Manish Pandey, to achieve a century in the IPL. His electrifying knock of 56 balls for the Delhi Capitals( Delhi Daredevils then) at the Feroz Shah Kotla on May 10, 2018, left a lasting impression. Pandey, holds the title of the youngest IPL centurion, achieving the feat at the age of 19 years and 253 days while representing Royal Challengers Bengaluru in 2009.

Pant’s unbeaten innings of 128 runs came off just 63 balls, embellished with 15 fours and 7 sixes. Additionally, he became the youngest batsman to amass 1000 runs in the IPL during this whirlwind performance. Despite Pant’s heroics, Delhi Capitals faced defeat as SRH chased down the target of 188 in just 18.5 overs, with Shikhar Dhawan and captain Kane Williamson leading the charge.

DC aim for a crucial win

Currently, the Capitals occupy seventh place in the standings, securing three wins in seven league matches. In their recent outing, the DC bowling unit displayed excellence by restricting Gujarat Titans (GT) to a mere 89 runs before chasing down the target in less than nine overs.

On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad is riding high on their stellar form, clinching victory in four out of six appearances. Their remarkable achievement includes posting the highest-ever IPL total of 287 against Royal Challengers Bangalore, ultimately winning by a margin of 25 runs.
