Lucknow Super Giants skipper KL Rahul on Friday produced a clinical display to help his side gain victory over Chennai Super Kings comfortably at the Ekana Cricket Stadium. Chasing 176, Rahul scored 82 of 53 balls to see off a stringent challenge. In doing so, the LSG skipper overtook MS Dhoni as wicketkeeper to score most 50+ runs in IPL.
KL in impeccable form
KL Rahul was at his fluent best on Friday, scoring runs comfortably to ensure Lucknow Super Giants reached their target without any major hiccups against Chennai Super Kings. The LSG skipper started his innings on the offensive. His 82 runs proved to be a major factor in LSG’s win. He hit 9 boundaries and 3 over boundaries before being dismissed by a wonder-catch from Ravindra Jadeja at point.
Rahul overtakes ‘Thala’
However, courtesy of his half-century, KL Rahul overtook former CSK captain as a wicketkeeper to have most 50+ scores in IPL. This was KL Rahul’s 25th half-century as a wickekeeper batter. Dhoni has 24 half-centuries to date. KL Rahul’s opening partner Quinton De Kock is third on the list, with 23 50+ scores.
