Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir is back in the national team fold after a 1327-day long hiatus. Selected for the ongoing T20I series against New Zealand, Amir expressed his excitement at returning to international cricket, comparing it to a debut.
In a video uploaded by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Amir expressed his emotions about rejoining the team. “This is a very special moment for me,” he said. “I am coming back for Pakistan after almost four years.” Despite his experience and past international appearances, Amir emphasized the unparalleled feeling of representing his country. “Honestly, it feels like it is my debut series,” he revealed. “Because whenever you wear your country’s star on your chest, that feels really different and you can’t explain it to be honest.“

Back in the national setup, Amir is laser-focused on one goal – winning the upcoming T20 World Cup for the Men in Green. Currently in the team for New Zealand T20Is, the 32-year-old is more or less likely to travel to the West Indies and USA for the mega event as well.
In the interview with PCB, Amir made his intentions clear and acknowledge the management’s vision. “There is a short-term goal and that is the T20 World Cup,” Amir said.

Amir expressed his determination to help Pakistan finally cross that elusive “finishing line.” “It will be the biggest achievement for me to be part of the World Cup winning team,” he declared. Beyond his ambition, Amir brings improved fitness to the table. “I am feeling even fitter as compared to when I played in 2019,” he revealed. This enhanced physical condition, coupled with his experience and skill, could prove to be a valuable asset for Pakistan’s World Cup campaign.
With Amir’s return bolstering the bowling attack alongside young guns Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah, Pakistan has a potent pace unit with the potential to dominate.
