Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) speedster Mayank Yadav participation in Friday’s crucial Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) remains uncertain due to a recent injury.
Mayank Yadav injury casts doubt
LSG Assistant coach Lance Klusener revealed during a pre-match press conference that Mayank Yadav is recovering from soreness in his lower abdomen, which forced him off the field after just one over in the previous match against Gujarat Titans. While Mayank has been bowling in the nets, Klusener emphasized that the team prioritizes his fitness.
“I am not sure regarding his participation in tomorrow’s match against Chennai. He has been bowling in the nets but his fitness is our priority. But can’t say anything regarding his participation.”
Early impact and impressive pace by Mayank Yadav
Mayank Yadav made a sensational debut in IPL 2024, becoming the first player ever to win Player of the Match awards in his first two matches.
His raw pace, often exceeding 150 kph, troubled several star batsmen, including Jonny Bairstow, Glenn Maxwell, Cameron Green, and Rajat Patidar. Maxwell even compared Mayank’s speed to Shaun Tait in his prime.
Injury to LSG star dampens excitement
The young bowler’s early exploits sparked discussions about his potential inclusion in the upcoming T20 World Cup. However, the abdominal injury has put those conversations on hold for now.
