Chennai Super Kings (CSK) pace bowler Deepak Chahar will miss their crucial Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Friday. This news comes after Chahar was ruled out of the previous match against Mumbai Indians due to a niggle.
Deepak Chahar undergoing rehab
CSK head coach Stephen Fleming confirmed during a pre-match press conference that Deepak Chahar is currently undergoing rehabilitation under the medical team’s supervision. “He is doing his rehab well,” Fleming assured fans. “It’s a minor injury, nothing to worry about.”
Fleming explained that Shardul Thakur’s strong performance against Mumbai Indians allowed them to prioritize Chahar’s recovery.
Deepak Chahar struggles upon return
While the injury itself may not be serious, Deepak Chahar’s return to competitive cricket hasn’t been smooth. In the four matches he has played this season, he has only managed to take four wickets with an economy rate of 9.16. These numbers fall below expectations for the star bowler.
Focus on upcoming IPL 2024 Match
Despite Chahar’s absence, Fleming expressed confidence in his team. He acknowledged Lucknow’s strength as a high-quality team. “We regard them very highly,” he said. “We focus on replicating the good things we did in Mumbai and address areas needing improvement.” He emphasized the importance of staying focused and avoiding complacency.
