The Lucknow Super Giants declared on social media that all 50,000 tickets for the highly anticipated match between KL Rahul’s team and Ruturaj Gaikwad’s squad had been sold. Marcus Stoinis, who noted the overwhelming response that MS Dhoni received across the nation in what is anticipated to be his final season as an IPL player, acknowledged that there will be strong support for the Chennai Super Kings.

“The crowd will be loud, that’s great. At least half of them (cheer) for us. Half of them for MS. It’s all part of the IPL and the experience and how good it is to play in this competition. We prepare similarly for every team,” Stoinis said.

“I wasn’t sure whether they were going to be shouting MS or MSD. It could be Lucknow’s MS. We will get to know when we get there. I will just choose to hear the word ‘MS’ so that I can be in my own world and be like ‘thanks guys’,” he added.

Admiration for one MS from another

Having watched the former captain of CSK adjust to the conditions and maintain his fitness for the IPL, Stoinis expressed his admiration for MS Dhoni.

But, it’s a great part of playing cricket here. I have massive respect for MS and to watch him change his game over the last couple of years. And this year, walking into face with only a couple of balls and smashing big sixes. Enjoying a new leader in their team. I have respect for every player in here, especially for him. He deserves the attention he gets,” Stoinis said.
