DRS, April 16: Buttler’s serving, centurion Narine and Knights’ goodnight

Welcome to our special segment DRS or the Daily Review System. In this, InsideSport will provide you with the top stories of IPL from a day before that you might have missed in the hustle and bustle of your busy life

Another day of IPL 2024 has passed by with records tumbling a team doing what seemed to be impossible. Rajasthan Royals claimed IPL’s most successful run-chase to date as they chased down the 224-run target in a nail-biting clash at the Eden Gardens. From Sunil Narine to Jos Buttler, it was a battle of the old horses in Kolkata, with the home side failing to use the home advantage in their favour.

KKR, at one point, would have definitely thought that they had the match in their hands. With regular blows in the form of wickets, Pat Cummins and co quite literally strangled the Royals. However, one man decided to put up a lone fight to get his team across the line. And he did it in the most stupendous fashion by fighting pain and scoring his second century in IPL 2024. On that note, let’s take a look at top headlines that grabbed eyeballs on Tuesday.

Jos Buttler played an all-timer at the Eden Gardens. The Rajasthan Royals opener not only scored a second ton of the IPL 2024 season but also took his side to the highest successful run-chase victory in the history of the IPL. Coincidentally, Buttler was part of the previous most successful chase as well, having hunted down 224 against the Punjab Kings in 2020.

Narine, you beauty!

Sunil Narine did the unthinkable as he became their first centurion for the franchise in the IPL 2024 season. The southpaw opener smashed a maiden IPL century in just 49 balls, which happens to be the joint fastest century by a KKR batter. The all-rounder is also the third-highest run scorer this season, behind the likes of Virat Kohli and Riyan Parag.

Truly Thala’s Last Dance?

Ever since Dhoni hung his boots from international cricket, fans and fellow cricketers only feared that the IPL retirement might soon follow, but the ex-CSK skipper has certainly outlived their expectations. He is 42, and playing in his 17th season of the IPL. But the fear is peaking this year for many reasons, and the biggest announcement from MSD might just be around the corner.

Is everything alright, Davey?

Delhi’s head coach Ricky Ponting provided an update on Warner. He went on to say that the southpaw did have a x-ray after the last match. are in a precarious situation right now. DC are in the ninth spot in the IPL points table after losing four matches, and winning only two.

Eyeball grabbing max pro!

MI vs CSK clash was watched for over 933 crore minutes of watch time and 13 crore viewers, bettering the reach of IPL 2023 final between CSK and Gujarat Titans. As per the data, IPL 2024 started with 59 crore views, that generated 660 crore minutes of watch time, during the opening match of CSK vs RCB on March 22.

Keep calm, Parag is still in the mix!

Riyan Parag played a sensational yet short-lived knock, making a solid statement once again as to why he deserves a spot in the India squad. The batter has carried over his prolific form from the domestic Ranji Trophy to IPL 2024 and he is putting it on full display in all the games so far. Against KKR, where records tumbled, Parag played his part with a fiery 34-run knock off just 14 deliveries.
