‘Attack the powerplay’: Travis Head lays bare plans after his 40-ball century against RCB at Chinnaswamy

After the match, Head said the game plan was to go after the bowlers in powerplay.

Sunrisers Hyderabad batter Travis Head was one happy man after guiding his team to another win against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Monday. Head was on fire at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, smashing a 40-ball century to help SRH score 287 in the first innings. Head was well complimented by other SRH batters as well with SRH notching up yet another comfortable victory.

SRH were on the front-foot right from the start, with Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head taking the RCB bowling on right from the word go. Head was particularly dominant, smashing the RCB bowlers all around the park. After Head, it was Heinrich Klaasen, Aiden Markram who helped SRH score 287. In reply, RCB fell 25 runs short.

‘We hit a lot of sixes’

After the match, Head said the game plan was to go after the bowlers in powerplay. “We’ve got a lot of power through our middle-order. We tailor our way on how we want to play around on that power we’ve got. Me and Abby (Abhishek Sharma) plan to maximise our runs in the powerplay and tonight we hit a lot of sixes. We just wanted to attack the powerplay” Head said.

‘Good bowling performance’

I think we bowled quite well. When you’re chasing a big score, you know what you need to get so you time your runs. I think we were in a good place with RCB 125/5 but DK played an excellent innings to take the game close. We knew we needed 3-4 good overs to win the game. I thought Pat Cummins bowled exceptionally well,” he said.

On his celebration

I was having a chat with Daniel Vettori the other day about the celebrations we have done in our careers. My celebration was directed towards him. It is an inside joke. I know Vettori enjoyed my celebration with the others trying to figure it out,” he said.
