India’s ace javelin athlete is calm and relaxed ahead of the Doha Diamond League. While cross the 90 meter mark is still a priority for him, Neeraj expects to share the Paris Olympics stage with Kishore Jena. The Olympics gold medallist further added that he would be happy if his fellow compatriot manages to break the 90 m mark before him.
Neeraj Chopra – Kishore Jena: Dream Duo
Neeraj spoke highly about Kishore Jena. He went on to claim it that it would be a wonderful moment if both the athletes can share the stage together in Paris Olympics. Earlier, in Asian Games the duo shared the podium too. However, now Neeraj is more concentrated about the upcoming Doha Diamond League.
“This might be a big dream-come-true moment for India. From our country, at the Olympics, two people standing on the podium, it will be a huge moment. If there are more than two, then it’s even better. At the Asian Games, it happened. If it happens in the Olympics, it will be a huge moment of joy. It will bring a different level of satisfaction for all of us, all of us Indians,” Neeraj said in an interaction organised by JSW Sports on Thursday.

Hunt for breaching 90 m continues
The coveted 90 meter mark has been evading Neeraj Chopra for the past couple of years. Though he has been consistently hitting the 88-89m meter mark, he is yet to cross the 90m barrier. Chopra feels that now is the time he needs to go breach it. He even plans on improving his consistency. However, Neeraj has claimed that he would be happy if Kishore Jena breaches 90m mark before him
“I have been stuck between 88m and 90m from 2018. Who knows you guys keep asking me the 90m question, who knows Kishore achieves the landmark before me. It would be great. Yes, we have come a long way in javelin, but that 90m mark has to be achieved,” Neeraj concluded.
