Gujarat Titans pulled off a surprising upset, putting an end to Rajasthan Royals’ undefeated streak in the IPL 2024. Led by Shubman Gill, the Gujarat Titans secured victory in a nail-biting match at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Wednesday, April 10th.
Initially, after Rajasthan Royals posted a challenging total of 196 runs, the Titans seemed to struggle in their chase. With 40 runs needed off the final 15 deliveries, the situation appeared grim until Rashid Khan joined Rahul Tewatia at the crease, replacing Shahrukh Khan.
” Well, that’s something which, you know, which happens to you. You do it again and again. Then it becomes a habit. I think it just becomes a kind of mindset. We can chase that, we can get to the total. It’s all about like making sure you have the mindset that we can get. And you know, we have done it in the past few times in the last couple of seasons. And I think now it just become a kind of habit.” said Rashid Khan speaking to IPL.
“Well, it was just more about belief, you know. I think we had that in our mind that we won few games in the last couple of seasons while chasing such a total in the last three overs. And we chased 50 as well. But it was not something like impossible. We just need to make sure, that we have the right mindset for it and we right intent of getting those runs in those 18 worlds. So I think that was something we had in mind. And me and Rahul just discussed like it’s a matter of hitting a couple of two, three good shots and I think it’s gonna be all good then.” Rashid added.

Taking advantage of Rajasthan’s on-field penalty for a slow over rate, Gujarat Titans seized the opportunity. Despite Tewatia getting run out on the second last ball, Rashid sealed the deal with a boundary on the final ball.
“Rahul made it so easy. Simple credit goes to him. The way he took the cage. I think these games are very important. It plays a very big role in the last stage of the competition. And I think for us was like making sure we have a good win in next. We have five, six days gaping which I think gives us a kind of idea and a time as well where we can reflect on the games” Rashid Khan concluded.
The lower-order duo combined for an impressive partnership of 38 runs off just 14 deliveries, with Tewatia contributing 22 runs off 11 balls, while Rashid remained unbeaten with 24 runs off 11 deliveries.
