All you need to know about ICC T20 World Cup squad submission dates

T20 World Cup Team submission begins from 1st May, Last date of Submission on 25th May a week before tournament starts

With just a week left for teams to submit their squads for the T20 World cup, India is all set to pick the 15-member squad on April 28 or 29. As per Cricbuzz, the squad will be picked by the end of this week ahead of the May 1 deadline. The Indian selectors will pick 20 players of which 15 will be a part of the main squad while five others will be picked as reserves.

T20 World Cup Squad Deadline

Teams will get a chance to change their initial squad as many times as they can till the deadline date. In this case, the deadline date is 25th May. With the world preparing for the ICC T20 World Cup, teams will be keen to finalise their squad for the mega tournament.

In case of emergencies, changes and injuries, the teams can go on to make necessary changes to their squad.

“The initial squad submission deadlines at our tournaments are 30 days before the support periods start. The support periods start one week before the tournaments,” ICC informed InsideSport.

“Changes may be made before the support period without seeking permission, but once the support period kicks in, the Event Technical Committee needs to approve replacements,” ICC added.

What are the rules?

  • The initial date for the submission of the squad begins on 1st May (1 month before ICC T20 World Cup starts)
  • The last date for the team submission is on 25th May (1 week before ICC T20 World Cup Starts).
  • From the 1st to the 25th of May, teams can make as many changes as they want to their ICC T20 World Cup squad.
  • The support period starts on 26th May and continues till 1st June (1 week before ICC T20 World Cup starts.)
  • Teams can make changes in their squad during the Support period, but they will have to take permission from the Event Technical Committee needs.
