Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has been impressive so far after his comeback after 14 months. The southpaw, who was sidelined after a horrific car crash in 2022, has grabbed the eyeballs of fans and critics with commendable performances in IPL 2024 so far. Who would have thought that Pant would be able to get back to full-fledged wicketkeeping and batting duties after the dreadful incident?
While all fans are keeping their fingers crossed for Pant’s inclusion in India’s T20 World Cup squad, it is all but certain that he will secure a spot in the side. His track record in T20Is, in addition with his determination and grit, makes him a sure contender for a seat in the flight to the USA and Caribbean.
Rishabh Pant secures spot in India’s T20 World Cup squad?
In five matches so far, Pant has scored 153 runs including one half-century. The southpaw showed glimpses of his capability with both bat and gloves, turning the clock back to his pre-injury era. The one-handed sixes and the chirping behind the stump mic is certainly something fans have missed over a year and a half.
Pant is in the race for a spot in India’s World Cup squad as a keeper-batter. However, there are other stars in the fray too which includes KL Rahul, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Dhruv Jurel and Jitesh Sharma. Although Rahul and Ishan are frontrunners in the competition for the keeper spot, it is likely for Pant to secure a spot, considering his experience and expertise. Pant’s scores in the IPL so far have been 18, 28, 51, 55 and 1.

“Yeah look it’s great for Indian cricket, but it’s also great for Rishabh Pant. I think the work that has gone into his rehab to get back to that level of play at any standard is an amazing achievement. He deserves a lot of credit for his hard work and it’s great to see him on the field, captaining and playing well, batting and keeping,” Michael Clarke told Star Sports.
