Lucknow Super Giants leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi on Sunday took one of the catches of the season when he dismissed Gujarat Titans batter Kane Williamson off his own bowling. Bishnoi, bowling at a crucial juncture of the match, pulled off a stunner when he flung himself in the air to his right to take a one-handed catch from a leading edge of Williamson. However, is it a surprise for players of a team to take such tough catches when their fielding coach goes by the name of Jonty Rhodes? Perhaps not. After the match, Bishnoi and Rhodes came in front of the camera to decode the wonderful piece of fielding.
Bishnoi exhausts me: Rhodes
Jonty revealed that Bishnoi reaped the rewards of his hard work on the field. He explained Bishnoi never misses a day of practice and works relentlessly on his catching.
“Someone like Ravi Bishnoi, he exhausts me. He never misses a single day of practice. If we’re at the ground, he will take catches every single day. He works hard on his bowling, not as much in his batting but that’s fine, and when it comes to fielding, he never sits in the dugout or hides in the dressing room. The added difficulty is when you’re bowling in your follow through. I think the great thing about that catch was that he went backwards and gave himself time. Often when you see it late you kind of go across the ball and have hard hands,” Jonty said.

I was just reacting: Bishnoi
Bishnoi, on the other hand, revealed that he follows a mantra given to him by none other than Jonty Rhodes.
I didn’t think anything, I was just reacting when saw the ball coming towards me, I went to the other side on my follow through, but I managed to jump for the ball. As you say, ‘If you don’t go, you’ll never know’. I followed that mantra and went for the catch,” Bishnoi said.
