Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) secured a convincing 33-run victory against the Gujarat Titans (GT) in their recent IPL 2024 match. However, the game also saw an unusual bowling performance from Lucknow’s left-arm spinner, M Siddharth.
M Siddharth: Three No-Balls and Record
M Siddharth’s fifth over of the GT innings became a talking point, and not for the best reasons. The young spinner struggled with his line and length, bowling a staggering three no-balls in a single over.
This unwanted feat earned him a place in the IPL record books for the most no-balls bowled by a spinner in an over. Previously, the record was held jointly by Amit Mishra and others with two no-balls in an over.
Most no balls by spinner in over in IPL
3 – Manimaran Siddharth in 2024
2 – Amit Mishra in 2009
2 – Anil Kumble in 2010
2 – Yogesh Nagar in 2011
2 – Amit Mishra in 2016
Lucky Escapes for LSG
Despite the free hits gifted by the no-balls, Gujarat batsmen Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill were unable to capitalize on the opportunity.
M Siddharth eventually managed to complete the over after nine deliveries, conceding 12 runs. While he didn’t pick up any wickets in that particular over, he finished the match with economical figures of 4-0-29-0.
M Siddharth: Overall Performance
This forgettable over doesn’t overshadow Siddharth’s overall IPL performance. Coming into the Gujarat match, he had played two games, taking two wickets in his first outing and one in his second, including the prized scalp of Virat Kohli.
Across his T20 career so far, he has bagged 19 wickets in just nine matches, including three four-wicket hauls.
