Now, that’s how you kickstart your career with a new IPL franchise. Romario Shepherd was on fire on his Mumbai Indians debut. Coming to the crease with just 13 balls left, the West Indian all-rounder scored 39 off 10 balls. The mind-boggling strike rate of 390 is the highest by a batter who has faced 10 or more balls in the history of the IPL.
Romario Shepherd sends Wankhede into a frenzy
He scored 32 runs in the final over of the first inning of the MI vs DC match, hammering Anrich Nortje for four sixes and two fours. This included a flat six over mid-on, a maximum that he hit out of the ground, and an amazing six over cover off a short ball aimed outside off-stump.
Before the 20th over, Shepherd had scored just 7 runs off 4 balls. But after scoring 32 off the next six deliveries, the all-rounder managed to become just the second batter in the league’s history to score over 30 runs in the final over of an inning.
