The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are having a torrid time in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). So far, RCB have only managed to secure victory in one out of their five matches. Their recent defeat came against Rajasthan Royals as they failed to defend a target of 183 runs. In this article, we will point out three things that have went wrong for RCB in IPL 2024.
What went wrong for RCB in IPL 2024?
Too much reliance on Kohli
Virat Kohli is the leading run-scorer in the ongoing IPL 2024. The right-handed batter has amassed 316 in five innings with an astonishing average of 105.33. However, the next best RCB batter, skipper Faf du Plessis has scored 109 runs in five innings and ranks 20th in the orange cap leaderboard.
Flop show from foreign guns
The deadly trio of Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green are yet to fire in the ongoing edition. While Du Plessis has got some starts, the Australian duo of Maxwell and Green have failed miserably with the bat. The Red Army might want to try out English batter Will Jacks in place of Green for the next game.
Poor bowling line-up
Bowling has always been a problem for RCB. In IPL 2024, none of the RCB bowlers have looked threatening. The constant backing of Mayank Dagar has also not yielded any results. The Bengaluru camp might want to include leg-spinner Karn Sharma in their line-up for the next match. Apart from the spin department, pacers like Alzarri Joseph and Vijaykumar Vyshak should also be given chances on regular basis.
